We’re extremely excited to debut the new acoustic version for Down Again’s ‘Sinking Ship’. Alongside the premiere comes the band’s announcement of their upcoming EP, Live Acoustic Session, set for release on March 26th. This collection of songs were all taken from their brilliant debut album, The Devil Is A Gentlemen, and showcases Down Again’s ability to strip things back for a full emotional injection.
About the track, frontman Lenny Costa says, “‘Sinking Ship’ is about dealing with depression and the frustration of growing up, praying to a God and never hearing anything back. The song explores the idea that if God is real, that means the devil is too, and if you could meet the devil and find out the truth, would you do it? The song finally reaches a breaking point culminating in the lyrics:
White lies burning holes in my faith
Never thought I’d end up this way
Don’t fucking pray for me just sell it to me, sell it to me
I came, I gave everything
Tried so hard to be a saint
Don’t fucking pray for me just sell it to me, sell it to me.“
