Having worked with Seth Henderson, and now State Champs frontman Derek DiScanio, grabbed media attention and toured with bands like Neck Deep, they’ve been busy. Luckily, they were able to squeeze us in to chat about their latest collab, recording, and more.

Let’s pretend you’re setting up a dating profile here – tell us about the band.
Hardworking and genuine Michigan boys seeking fans who love music that inspires, and makes you want to have a damn good time! We write Pop Rock and Pop Punk jams and love to meet new people from all over the world. Beyond the 9 to 5 stage life, we love to travel, go to concerts, play and watch sports, tweet ridiculous things and kick it with our friends and family.

Do you remember your first music-related goosebumps moment? Can you share it with us?
For me personally (Riley), it was listening to the ‘We Don’t Need To Whisper’ record by Angels and Airwaves. I discovered that record when I was first learning how to play guitar, and I’ll never forget how much it changed my life. I would drive around at night with that record blaring, dreaming of being in a band and touring the world one day. Songs like ‘The Adventure’ and ‘Do It For Me Now’ were a soundtrack for Michigan Summer nights that never seemed to end.
What’s the coolest thing a fan’s ever done for you?
We are so appreciative of everything our fans have done for us! From the constant encouragement and support online and at shows, to giving gifts before shows and sending us unique art, we’re so lucky to have these cool people in our lives. One of the coolest things we’ve seen is a fan driving from Canada to our show in Bay City, Michigan, and bringing us a bag full of Canadian-based snacks and candy. Not only did they travel a really long way for our show, but they thoughtfully put something together to bring as a gift.
You recently released ‘Black Dress’. Who did you work with and what was it like in the studio?
We worked with our good friends Seth Henderson and Derek DiScanio at Always Be Genius recording studio. Seth and Derek produced on the track, and helped us bring the energy! We came in with a strong demo version of this song, and had a blast in the studio building on that and tweaking it to the point it’s at now. We’re really happy with the overall sound, and especially loved the gang vocal choruses that we think stand out!
What was it like collaborating with Mikaila?
Mikaila was wonderful to work with! We sent her the track with general ideas, but she really blew it out of the water. You have to be impressed with her melody and range! She brought an energy and new level to the song that would not be the same without her feature. We really loved this collaboration!
